Beatrice (Bea) Sobel, LCSW earned her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1990 and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Social Work (M.S.W.) from the same university in 1991. She moved from Ann Arbor, MI to Chicago, IL in 1992 and has been here ever since. Bea obtained her LCSW in Illinois in 1994.
Bea has worked with a variety of clientele over the years, including tweens, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. She has vast experience working with youth involved in the criminal justice system and displaying symptoms of conduct disorder and substance abuse. Bea has expertise treating clients struggling with PTSD, attachment and relationship issues, recovery from trauma, and mood and anxiety disorders. She has assisted many parents and families struggling to support their children and young adults coping with life transitions.
Bea recognizes the importance of aligning with clients and ensuring that treatment is focused on personally meaningful goals and outcomes. She strives to create a safe space in which clients feel heard, understood, and validated, while also challenging clients to learn and practice new skills and strategies to regulate their thoughts and feelings, manage their distress, and interact more effectively with others.
Bea joined Mark D. Parisi, Psy.D. & Associates, P.C. in 2018 and works out of the Chicago office location. Bea is married and has three wonderful children. When not working, Bea enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, and reading.
